FREE FORM MUSIC SERIES curated by Grammy and Tony Award winning musician Ben Perowsky presents Matt Munisteri.
Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Matt Munisteri is a Brooklyn native who grew up as almost assuredly the only bluegrass banjo player on his block. His own compositions and playing reflect this life-long devotion to the history of American Popular song; linking rural and urban, long-gone and contemporary. As one of “New York’s finest vintage guitar stylists” (Downbeat Magazine), but also a player who’s at home in a range of musical styles and eras, Matt routinely works with a wide range of artists, from folk and pop, to mainstream jazz and even the avant-garde. He often appears and collaborates with Catherine Russell, Mark O’Connor, Steven Bernstein, Henry Butler, Madeleine Peyroux, Liz Wright, “Little” Jimmy Scott, and Loudon Wainwright. Matt’s CD “Love Story” was number two on Amazon’s list of the top ten jazz CDs and his most recent CD is "Still Runnin' 'Round in the Wilderness; The Lost Music Of Willard Robison Vol I.
